Two authors and close friends who write for very different audiences but consider their friendship to be an essential part of their creative lives come together to discuss their most recent books.
Amy Jo Burns and Anica Mrose Rissi have been discussing the ins and outs of the writing and publishing process during monthly lunches for the past five years. In this virtual event, they let us in on the conversation, for an intimate look at how two authors approach the constantly-changing publishing landscape.
Amy Jo Burns is the author of the memoir Cinderland and the novel Shiner, which comes out from Riverhead Books on May 5. With starred reviews from Kirkus and Booklist, Shiner has been called an "exceptional debut" by bestselling author Joshilyn Jackson and a "gorgeous novel" by National Book Award winner Philip Klay. Amy Jo's writing has appeared in The Paris Review Daily, Tin House, Ploughshares, Electric Literature, Literary Hub, and elsewhere.
